Day 1 - Humcha - Jain Pilgrimage centre

Sri Parshvanath Bhagwan in black color, seated in a semi-lotus posture (Padmasana posture) and of height 120 cms in a shrine in the village of Humbaj Humcha : 54 kms from Shimoga city.

The main attraction of Humcha is the Padmavathi Amma's temple. The Ma Padmavati's temple is very rich and splendid. The idol of Padmavatidevi is very miraculous and expressive. The like of it is not found elsewhere. It is believed that the mere sight of Ma Padmavatidevi fulfils the wishes of the worshippers. Darshan of Ma Padmavati gave us both a great feeling....We are lucky to be blessed by Ma Padmavati's blessings as it is said that a couple blessed by Ma Padmavati never gets seperated and the love and bond between them grows more and more strong with time...

Picture of Jain temple at Humcha - We reached at night so this is the temple entrance view at night...It is better to visit the temple during day time as the road to Humcha is surrounded by dense growth of trees (more gives a look of forest) on both sides.

Humbaj (better known as Humcha or Hamchawadi) is famous for being home to an ancient temple of Goddess Padmavati, and to the Humbaj Matha (seminary/monastery), an important institution of the Jain community.

From Bangalore via Shimoga this shrine is 340Kms away.

By 9:30 we were back to Hotel Jewel rock in Shimoga...
