Our Mysore trip - 1

In Aug 06, I and P went to Mysore, our trip was just great fun.

Mysore enchants everyone who visits it with its quaint charm.Somebody rightly wrote -- "There's an old world charm about the city that reaches out and leaves no one untouched.Mysore is the second biggest city in the State of Karnataka lying 130 from the State Headquarters, Bangalore. The city is famous for silk and is a thriving sandalwood and incense centre.

On the way we had Dosa in breakfast at Kamat’s Lokaruchi , approx 55 kms from Bangalore on right side of the highway. The whole environment at Kamat Lokaruchi was traditional. The dosa was yummy, especially when you do not get a north indian taste of Dosa in south, Kamat's dosa tasted yummy as it resembled bit of the north indian taste.

In the Pic on the right, is the Tipu Sultan's tomb at Srirangapatna on the Mysore Bangalore highway at a distance of 15 KM from Mysore.

Cute prayer !

This was a forward message I received today, nice, cute and at the same time gives you a food for thought....

well does it really gives a food for thought ... have a sort of doubt ?????????

Land of midnight sun - 7

Nature is incomparable !!!!!!!

Never loose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful for Beauty is God's creation -- even in pictures !!!!!!!!!

Land of midnight sun - 6

Norway - Combination of nature with human contribution to nature itself

Oslo coast

Land of midnight sun - 5

This is Oslo - Capital of Norway !

These sculptures - Awesome!!!!

Well at times man too contributes to nature. So its not right to think other way round always !!!!

Well this place looks cool !!!!!!

Land of midnight sun - 4

This is again a real man -- not a statue -- isn't this awesome !!!!!!!

Land of midnight sun - 3

These are few more pics of sculptures in Norway. Remember movie Badshah of Shahrukh Khan and Twinkle Khanna - shooting of this movie was done in Norway and if you see songs these sculptures are very much there.

Land of midnight sun - 2

Here's my India - Indian flag in Norway.

In the picture is Bombay Durbar (means reception) - an Indian restaurant in Norway.

Well you get Indians everywhere -- even at extreme corners of the world.

Land of midnight sun - 1

Isn't this beautiful? a great piece of art ! This is a statue outside a restaurant in Norway. Well Pareekh had good debate over this statue -- whether it is real or not, finally he walked upto the statues and discovered that they were not real. Oh God these artists need an applause.

In Norway after every few steps you come across such wonderful piece of works in form of sculptures or statues.... Now question arises how is this possible? But the answer is very simple. In Norway Government encourages art very proactively, by assigning bit of percentage to the
art from the budget of all public buildings. Isn't that a great job on part of Government , well 3 cheers for the Norwegian Government . This is one of the reasons that even beggars appear in form of statues in the Land of midnight sun.

Learning Chinese is fun!

"Climbing to the top demands strength, whether it is to the top of Mount Everest or to the top of your career.”

Chinese is considered to be the toughest language in the world, but but before we affirm this further I would like to add that it is all in the state of mind.I would like to share my experiences with you while my learning Chinese.Well Chinese is one language which gives you no clue that the written character is a chinese word or a chinese alphabet or a chinese sentence. It is all in Hanzi. It at times makes you laugh out loudly and at other times it tests your patience that how much zeal do you have to learn it.

My first experience was very funny.I and P started learning chinese together and it was my job to assist him in learning it as he hardly used to get time to revise whatever we studied in our class. One day out of that duty assigned to me, I sent a sms saying to him---"wo ai ni".This in chinese means---"I love you" and guess what he replied, "kaun Bai?".('kaun' means 'who' in Hindi and 'bai' means 'maid' in hindi.'wo' means 'she' in hindi ,'ai' means 'come' in hindi and 'nahi' means 'not/no' in hindi.)There are many words in Chinese which hold totally opposite meaning when used in hindi.e.g 'meili' in hindi means 'dirty', whereas 'meili' in chinese means 'lovely'.

Land of midnight sun!

Land of midnight sun - yeah these were the words which drew my attention even when I was a school going girl. There was a sort of fascination attached to these 4 words - maybe because it appeared to me to be something different from what I saw daily - yes Daily I saw sunrise in the morning and by evening sun was all gone. My little head always questioned - How would a night look with sun and day without sun!!!!!!!!.

Well by the time I reached 9th standard, I understood the whole theory in my geography class but still something undiscovered seemed to be left somewhere in my mind. I was just curious to feel that place - place known as land of midnight sun , known by Norway on the map.

Anyone who used to ask me name two places in the world you would love to go if given a chance, my instant reply to this was always - Norway and New Zealand , hey is there some mystry in the alphabet N ? - Well God alone knows but yes 5 number fascinates me, my husband is also number 5.

My husband happened to visit Norway last year, it was an official visit so I could not accompany him but am looking forward to it in future. Guess what his description of Norway tells - that it is more beautiful than I thought. Nature is mesmerising when it is calm - well no doubt regarding it. I had uploaded few photographs of this beautiful place --enjoy the beauty of God's creation, enjoy nature in one of its charismatic forms.--- The one uploaded in this post -- hey this snap is not of a statue but a living man. On Norway roads you will come across lot of people in this get up who ask / collect money.

My Song of the Week - Nothing´s Gonna Stop Us Now

"Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" -- song co-written by Albert Hammond and Diane Warren, recorded by Starship. Featured as the theme to the romantic comedy film Mannequin, it hit #1 in the Billboard Hot 100 on April 4, 1987 and reached #1 on the UK Singles Chart for four weeks the following month. At the time, it made Grace Slick the oldest female artist to have a number one single in the United States (though the record was later broken by Cher's "Believe" in 1999). The song also received an Oscar nomination for "Best Original Song" at the 60th Academy Awards. It was released in the album No Protection in 1987. It is also the main theme for the Bath and District Scout and Guide Gang Show in England.

Lyrics:

Looking in your eyes I see a paradise
This world that Ive found
Is too good to be true
Standing here beside you
Want so much to give you
This love in my heart that I'm feeling for you

Let em say were crazy, I don't care about that
Put your hand in my hand baby
Don't ever look back
Let the world around us just fall apart
Baby we can make it if were heart to heart

Chorus:
And we can build this dream together
Standing strong forever
Nothings gonna stop us now
And if this world runs out of lovers
We'll still have each other
Nothings gonna stop us, nothings gonna stop us now

I'm so glad I found you
I'm not gonna lose you
Whatever it takes I will stay here with you
Take it to the good times
See it through the bad times
Whatever it takes is what I'm gonna do

Let 'em say were crazy, what do they know
Put your arms around me baby
Don't ever let go
Let the world around us just fall apart
Baby we can make it if were heart to heart

And we can build this dream together
Standing strong forever
Nothings gonna stop us now
And if this world runs out of lovers
We'll still have each other
Nothings gonna stop us, nothings gonna stop us

Ooh, all that I need is you
All that I ever need
And all that I want to do
Is hold you forever, ever and ever, hey

And we can build this dream together
Standing strong forever
Nothings gonna stop us now
And if this world runs out of lovers
We'll still have each other
Nothings gonna stop us
Nothings gonna stop us, whoa
Nothings gonna stop us now, oh no

Hey baby, I know, hey baby, nothings gonna stop us
Hey baby, woo, nothing, hey baby
Nothings gonna stop us now yeah

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian ..hmm much awaited movie ...Personally I was missing the white witch(Tilda Swinton). As she fitted wonderfully in her role of white witch in the first movie so does Ben Barnes fits perfectly in his role of Prince Caspian.

In words of ASLAN, "Things never happen the same way twice." Same we can presume for the movie as well. In short the magic of wardrobe is missing in this second sequel of Narnia. However the battles scenes in the end are amazing. There is so much of fight yet no blood..this is what makes the scenes all the more entertaining. Laughs are bound to be there with amusing presence of Peter Dinklage as cranky dwarf Trumpkin and Eddie Izzard as the voice of swashbuckling mouse Reepicheep...so in all a good bet to watch

Official trailor:

The enchanting characters of C.S Lewis' timeless fantasy come to life again in "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, in which the Pevensie siblings—-Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy—-are magically transported from World War II era England to Narnia through a tube station near London’s Trafalgar Square, embarking on a perilous new adventure and an even greater test of their faith and courage.

One year after the incredible events of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” the former Kings and Queens of Narnia find themselves back in that faraway realm, only to discover that more than 1,300 years have passed and Narnia had greatly changed from the Narnia they knew Their castle is all in ruins and during their absence, the Golden Age of Narnia has faded into legend. The Telmarines, a tribe of humans, have conquered and pushed all the Narnian creatures into hiding in the forest. Many of the animals have gone wild, and the trees no longer dance or move at all. The mighty lion Aslan has not been seen in a thousand years. Their stories of old Narnia, and Aslan are considered to be fairy tales.

The four children have been summoned back to Narnia by Caspian, the legitimate heir to the Telmarine throne, to combat his evil uncle Miraz. With the help of a crusty, valiant dwarf, Trumpkin, a courageous talking mouse named Reepicheep(cutest of all characters), and a mistrustful Black Dwarf, Nikabrik, they lead the Narnians on a remarkable journey to restore magic and glory to the land.

They debuted in 1991 with the eponymous album Fool's Garden, the next (1993) was album. Once in a Blue Moon. Two years later Fool's Garden issued their second album Dish of the Day, scoring a massive European and Asian chart hit with "Lemon Tree"

Fool's Garden - Lemon Tree

Lyrics:
I'm sitting here in the boring room

It's just another rainy Sunday afternoon
I'm wasting my time
I got nothing to do
I'm hanging around
I'm waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder

I'm driving around in my car
I'm driving too fast
I'm driving too far
I'd like to change my point of view
I feel so lonely
I'm waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder

I wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree
I'm turning my head up and down
I'm turning turning turning turning turning around
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree

I'm sitting here
I miss the power
I'd like to go out taking a shower
But there's a heavy cloud inside my head
I feel so tired
Put myself into bed
Well, nothing ever happens and I wonder

Isolation is not good for me
Isolation I don't want to sit on the lemon-tree

I'm steppin' around in the desert of joy
Baby anyhow I'll get another toy
And everything will happen and you wonder

I wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree
I'm turning my head up and down
I'm turning turning turning turning turning around
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree
And I wonder, wonder

I wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see, and all that I can see, and all that I can see

Fool's Garden - Probably

Lyrics:

Dan is drinking coffee

Mary's drinking tea
Betty's having breakfast
in the plastic surgery
Some say she's a beauty
Some may say she's mad
But she doesn't care what the people say
and dyes her red hair black

You don't know,
what they will say
You probably've to do it your own way
You don't know,
what they will see
Absolutely nothing – probably

Tom is vegetarian
A little fool they say
His father wants to change his mind
He's trying every day

Anne is loving woman
Fred is loving man
And everybody shakes their head
'Cause no one understands

You don't know...

In the corner plays a gypsy girl
With Indians and with Jews
Penny sings along with them
though she wears different shoes

You don't know...

You don't know,
what they will do
No one ever knows,
you don't know too
You don't know,
what they will say
You probably don't need another way

Interesting story - What Women Want??

Forwarded message I received ... found interesting so am posting...a good read has a moral too(hmmm) with tons of smiles................

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighboring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him but was moved by Arthur's youth and ideals. So, the monarch offered him his freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur would have a year to figure out the answer and, If after a year, he still had no answer, he would be put to death. The question was: What do women really want? Such a question would perplex even the most knowledgeable man, And to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. But, since it was better than death,
He accepted the monarch's proposition to have an answer by year's end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everyone: The princess, the priests, the wise men, and even the court jester. He spoke with everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer. Many people advised him to consult the old witch, For only she would have the answer. But the price would be high as the witch was famous through out the kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged. The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no choice but to talk to the witch. She agreed to answer the question, but he would have to agree to her price first.

The old witch wanted to marry Sir Lancelot, The most noble of the Knights of the Round Table, And Arthur's closest friend! Young Arthur was horrified. She was hunch-backed and hideous, had only one tooth, Smelled like sewage, made obscene noises, etc. He had never encountered such a repugnant creature in all his life. He refused to force his friend to marry her and endure such a terrible burden, But Lancelot, having learnt of the proposal, spoke with Arthur. He said nothing was too big of a sacrifice compared to Arthur's life. And the reservation of the Round Table. Hence, a wedding was proclaimed and the witch answered.

Arthur's question thus: "What a woman really wants?"

She said, "Is to be in charge of her own life."

Everyone in the kingdom instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth. And that Arthur's life would be spared. And so it was. The neighboring monarch granted Arthur his freedom. And Lancelot and the witch had a wonderful wedding. The honeymoon hour approached and, Lancelot, steeling himself for a horrific experience, entered the bedroom. But, what a sight awaited him.

The most beautiful woman he had ever seen lay before him on the bed. The
astounded Lancelot asked what had happened. The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she appeared as a witch, She would henceforth be her horrible and deformed self only half the time. And the beautiful maiden the other half. "Which would you prefer? She asked him. "Beautiful during the day .... or at night?" Lancelot pondered the predicament.

During the day he could have a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, But at night, in the privacy of his castle, an old witch! Or, Would he prefer having a hideous witch during the day? But by night a beautiful woman for him to enjoy wondrous, intimate moments with?

(If you are a man reading this...) What would YOUR choice be?

(If you are a woman reading this) What would YOUR MAN'S choice be?

What Lancelot chose, is given below:

BUT... make YOUR choice before you scroll down below... OKAY?

Noble Lancelot, knowing the answer the witch gave Arthur to his question, he said that he would allow HER to make the choice herself. Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time. Because, he had respected her enough to let her be in charge of her own life.

Now... what is the moral to this story?

The moral is...
1) There is witch in every woman no matter how beautiful she is!
2) If you don't let a woman have her own way, things are going to get ugly.

So, always remember:
IT'S EITHER "HER WAY" OR IT'S "NO WAY" !!!

Smiles + moral + fun all in the end as promised in the beginning !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
